During his questioning, Abhay told investigators that he had seen an advertisement in a Gujarati newspaper last month for a part-time job and had called up the number. He had a word with one Manish who promised him Rs 10,000 per month by sending promotional SMSs from his home. He then asked to deposit Rs 2,000 as deposit in a bank account as security. As per his statement, once he deposited the amount, the phone number went switched off.
"After he realized that he was cheated, Abhay decided to get even and gave the same number to police so that the person, identified as Manish, can be punished," said the official.
